Burn is a status effect that negatively affects non-metal items and adds the burnt attribute to the inflicted item, due to damage from fire sources. This status effect has a higher chance of effecting the player's items made out of cloth, parchment, and wood due to more sources that inflict fire damage.
Inflicted By[]
Items in the player's inventory have a chance to be burnt due to fire damage:
- Reading a scroll of fire;
- Struck by a fiery greatsword (usually wielded by a fire giant);
- Struck by a fireball spell;
- Struck by a wand of fire;
- Struck by creatures with fire-based attacks, such as:
Stages of Burning[]
- Burnt;
- Very Burnt;
- Thoroughly Burnt;
- Item is destroyed.
Effects[]
- Armour will have decreased a armour class;
- Weapons will do less damage;
- After the third stage of burning, any additional burns or damage towards the item may result in the destruction of the item.
Prevention[]
- Using the service of a clothier to fireproof items (limited to cloth items only);
- Pouring a potion of fireproofing onto a non-metal item.
Repair[]
The following methods will remove corrosion from an inflicted item:
- Pouring a potion of fireproofing on the burnt item;
- Pouring a potion of restore ability on the burnt item;
- Reading a scroll of enchant armour will repair the burnt cloth, leather, or silk armour (if selected, a blessed scroll will allow manual selection);
- Reading a scroll of enchant weapon will repair the burnt wooden weapon (if selected, a blessed scroll will allow manual selection);
- Reading a scroll of repair armour, burnt items in inventory will be restored without manual selection;
- After repairing a message will appear saying "(Item name) is as good as new."
