Hunger is a character status effect, where as in-game time passes, the player's and pet's hunger level increases and may eventually, inflict even more negative status effects. Eating food will decrease hunger levels to decrease.

- The passing of time;
- Wearing a ring of hunger.
Stages of Hunger[]
- Oversatiated - Dark green icon (ready to explode);
- Satiated - Light green icon (full);
- Normal - No icon;
- Hungry - Light red icon;
- Starving - Dark red icon (weak with hunger).
Effects[]
Satiated and Oversatiated[]
- Eating while under these conditions will inflict choking.
Hungry and Starving[]
- The creature will suffer the weak(ness) status effect: decreased burden threshold;
- The creature also due to weakness, will frequently faint for a short time;
- No food intake for a certain duration of time whilst starving, will eventually lead to death.
Prevention[]
- Always eat until satiated, to avoid unnecessary food spoilage, which will result in decreased food calories;
- Avoid continuously resting, especially when not carrying any food items. This is usually the main culprit of hunger issues;
- Wearing an amulet of slow digestion slow hunger level increase speed considerably;
- Turning food items into pies at the bakery, to avoid food spoilage as well as higher calorie contents;

Worse Case Scenarios[]
The following methods can be used to temporarily stave off starvation, although some may not be as effective as others:
- Quaffing most potions will give 60 calories. Other potions will have higher calories, such as a potion of fruit juice;
- Drinking water at fountains [untested to its effectiveness];
- Using a create monster spell, create monster scroll, or wand of create monster. It should be noted that these summoned creatures rarely, if not almost never drop food remains.
- Slaying a pet to get food remains. *sniff*
Tips[]
- Do not drink water from sewer drains, it will increase hunger.
