The two trolls guards standing adjacent to the Gnome King in the Gnome Mines. These unique trolls both wields spears and wear large suits of plate armor. They also are both capable of casting sickness.
Location[]
- Gnome King throne room in the Gnome Mines.
Loot[]
Items carried by either Pain or Disease:
- Spear (always wielded);
- Suit of plate armour (always worn, large sized);
- Bits of troll guard innards (meat, safe to eat, always drops 3-6 bits);
- Chance to drop an apple;
- Chance to drop a pear.
Traits[]
The troll guards have been observed to have the following abilities or behaviours:
- Alignment: Neutral;
- Alignment: Friendly (unless attacked directly or Gnome king attacked);
- Diet: Omnivore;
- Magic: Can cast sickness;
- Health: Heals very quickly;
- Health: Will resurrect if innards intact.
Equipment[]
A pet troll guard can equip the same amount of equipment as the player:
- One amulet or collar;
- One set of body armour (large);
- One cloak;
- One pair of footwear.
- One pair of gloves;
- One helm;
- Two rings;
- One shield;
- One weapon (with or without shield) or two weapons (without shield).
Tips[]
- Due to the limited width of the Gnome king's throne room, it might be better for the player to attack the troll guards from outside of the room with ranged weapons, forcing them to leave the throne room into a more advantageous terrain;
- Their spears can be quite tricky, able to still reach and damage the player, even when using levitation. However, similar to many monster AI in the game, the player may trick the trolls into climbing the ladder which may render them stuck in position, while the player levitates and pepper them with arrows or spells;
- Both Pain and Disease can be mesmerised and turned into pets. When turned into pets, they both retain their unique spell casting abilities and their troll reanimation abilities, as long as their unique troll guard innards remain intact. However, when they die (and assuming the player has conquered the Gnome Mines), they revert into an allied status, similar to other gnomes. Attacking them once will revert them back to pet status without need for further mesmerizing/taming techniques;
- If the player kills the troll guards and later conquers the mines (by killing the Gnome king), as long as their innards retain intact, they will reanimate to their former selves, though surprisingly not hostile;
- It should be noted that the troll guard innards are heavy, have high content in calories, and also spoil much faster than other meat produce;
- A troll guard cannot be summoned with a blessed scroll of creature monster. The text "no troll guard appears" will appear if the player attempts to summon one or more.
