Dark Spell - Level 4
The polymorph spell is spell that can be used to target creatures or the caster, to transform the target into different creature. The target gains creature's appearance, stats, and all of its natural abilities. Any equipment worn by the target creature, may drop or change in size, depending on the type of creature it morphed into. Creatures with magic resist may still able to resist the transformation.

- Successfully reading a spellbook of polymorph.
Spell Forms[]
- Direct casting;
- Quaffing or throwing a potion of polymorph;
- Inflicted by a polymorph trap;
- Inflicted by a ring of polymorph;
- Zapped from a wand of polymorph.
Resistance[]
Items that offer resistance or immunity towards the effects of the polymorph spell:
Polymorphing[]
- Wearing a ring of polymorph control in combination with any polymorph source, preferably a ring of polymorph, will grant the ability to turn into most creatures. The higher the level of the player, the more powerful creatures the player has access to;
- If the player dies while in polymorph form, the player will revert to the original body;
- Warning! When reverting back to an original form, health does not change. Reverting back due to dying in polymorph form will result in an original body with extremely low health.

Creatures that have immunity to polymorphing due to their resistance to change:
- Bacchus;
- Dragon, Huge Green;
- Dragon, Huge Grey;
- Dragon, Huge Silver;
- Dragon, Huge Skeleton;
- Golem, Gold;
- Golem, Iron;
- Golem, Leather;
- Golem, Stone;
- Golem, Wood;
- Possessed Weapon;
- Skeleton;
- Skeleton, Giant;
- Skeleton Hound;
- Wicker Man;
- Wraith.
Transmutation[]
- Casting polymorph on a certain quantity of items can turn them into constructs; see Polypiling;
- Bread can be transmuted into wearable items and vice versa. This can be very useful to fight starvation or alternatively to obtain a valuable type of ring, boots, or helmet for the cost of a piece of bread -- literally.

Tips[]
- Dying while wearing an amulet of unchanging will result in permanent death;
- Pets and other creatures do not revert back to their original form upon death;
- Polymorphing into a kobold shaman will grant the knowledge of the psi bolt spell. This knowledge will still be retained even after the shaman form dies;
- Wearing an amulet of life saving does not trigger when dying in a polymorphed form;
- Although not resistant to change, wasps do not change to another creature when polymorphed, only their number chances.
