The polymorph trap is a dungeon feature if triggered will inflict polymorph to creatures who passes over it, most often appropriate for the dungeon level, although sometimes, exception to this rule may apply. A wavy double pointed arrow symbol in the mini-map indicates the location of the polymorph trap and whether or not it is still active.
Location[]
- Depths of 600 feet and lower;
- Can only be found in the main dungeon.
Effects[]
- Inflicts polymorph to a creature until the effect wears off via death.
Prevention[]
- Quaffing a potion of see invisible (to detect the trap beforehand);
- Wearing an amulet of unchanging (immunity to polymorph);
- Wearing a collar of unchanging (immunity to polymorph);
- Wearing a ring of see invisible (to detect the trap beforehand);
- Wearing a ring of polymorph control (doesn't technically prevent, although it does offer control over the polymorph);
- Level 3 in the animal forms talent (doesn't technically prevent, although it does offer control over the polymorph).
Tips[]
- All traps are invisible until triggered or detected by other methods;
- Traps can be avoided by simply jumping over or flying over it;
- Traps will eventually run out of charges if continuously triggered;
- Not all hostile creatures will polymorph when passing over the trap, this is more likely a bug.
- Pets do not revert to their original form after they polymorph. Death after polymorph is permanent.
