The possessed weapons are the most dangerous enemies in the early—mid levels of the dungeon and a bane to players unlucky enough to meet one before 500 feet, which will almost certainly lead to death. They come in the form of a fast flying weapon dealing significant damage, especially to new characters. If that wasn't dangerous enough, their high magic resistance makes the dwarves' magic resistance seem laughable.
Compared to other noticeably stronger creatures in the dungeon, this may well be considered one of the most unbalanced creatures in the game.

- Depths of 300-1600 feet;
- Depths of 90-640 meters.

- Chance to be a +2 to +3 longsword;
- Chance to be a +2 to +3 battle axe;
- Chance to be a +2 to +3 greatsword.
Traits[]
Possessed weapons have been observed to have the following abilities or behaviours:
- Attack: Melee enchanted weapon that does devastating damage;
- Health: Does not heal;
- Magic: Can breath magically;
- Movement: Flying, fast;
- Resistance: Change;
- Resistance: Cold;
- Resistance: Poison;
- Resistance: Sleep;
- Resistance: Some magic (in practice, almost immune);
- Weakness: Cancellation.
Instant Kill[]
The only known method to instantly kill a possessed weapon, is to throw or zap it with a wand of cancellation. However, due to their noticeably high magic resistance (and luck), it may require more than a few zaps from the wand.
Tips[]
- Do not hesitate to pop divine assistance if facing them for the first time;
- Although the possessed weapon may resist being destroyed by the wand of cancellation, it may still receive the effects of having its enchantment removed. This is why a possessed weapon may have no enchantments after being defeated.
- The player can create a possessed weapon by reading a scroll of enchant weapon while confused.
