Rust is a status effect that negatively affects metal items and adds the rusted attribute to the inflicted item. Not to be confused with corrosion.
Inflicted By[]
Items in the player's inventory have a chance to be inflicted by rust if subject to one of the following:
- Struck by an aquator;
- Struck by a water elemental.
Effects[]
- Armour will have decreased armour class;
- Weapons will do less damage;
- Whether or not rust will eventually destroy a metal item is untested.
Prevention[]
- Applying a tub of grease on a metal item;
- Applying a tub of lard on a metal item;
- Pouring a cursed potion of oil on a metal tem (two target items);
- Rustproofing the metal item at the forge.
Repair[]
The following methods will remove rust from an inflicted item:
- Pouring a potion of restore ability on the rusted item;
- Pouring a potion of healing, extra healing, or full healing on the rusted item;
- Reading a scroll of repair armour, rusted items in inventory will be restored without manual selection;
- Rustproofing the metal item at the forge;
- After repairing a message will appear saying "(Item name) is as good as new."
Tips[]
- [Tested] Applying a tub of grease on a metal item does not remove the rust;
- [Tested] Reading a blessed scroll of enchant weapon will not repair a selected rusted weapon.
