The scroll of identify casts the identify spell, revealing all information regarding an item in the player's inventory that is not within a container.

- Dungeon (chance to be found in chests or lying on the ground);
- Kobold shaman (chance to drop, loot);
- Emporium (sold if available).
Identification[]
Identifying an item will reveal all of the following information, depending on item type:
- The true name or type of an item (e.g. unidentified: crude dagger, identified: orcish dagger);
- The blessed/uncursed/cursed status (e.g. blessed orcish dagger);
- Its level of enchantment (e.g. blessed +1 orcish dagger);
- Number of charges or contents (e.g. wand of wishing with 3 charges);
- The level of freshness of food (e.g. old bits of sewer rat innards);
- An identified item and all of its type will remain identified the end of the game. Future items will only have its true name or type identified. The B/U/C, enchantment, etc., will remain unidentified.

Blessed[]
- A blessed scroll of identify will identify 2-4 items, with a 1 in 25 chance to identify all carried items.
Uncursed[]
- An uncursed scroll of identify will identify 1-3 item(s) in the player's inventory.
Cursed[]
- A cursed scroll of identify will only identify a single item.
Burnt[]
- A text stating "you misread the burnt words," results in either the same effect of reading an unburnt scroll of identify or reading a scroll of magic mapping.
- Whether or not the blessed, uncursed, cursed status of the scroll or burn levels differs in effect, is untested.
Confused[]
- Reading a blessed scroll of identify while confused will produce the message: That is identified as a scroll of identify!
Tips[]
Finding a ultimate scroll of identify can turn around the most desperate situation!
- As a paper item, it is susceptible to fire and may burn;
- Scrolls can be sold to the shopkeeper;
- This scroll is a good candidate to be blanked into a scroll of blank paper (if scrolls in excess);
- It is inadvisable to read unidentified scrolls;
- Scrolls of identify have the lowest price compared to other scrolls. A shopkeeper can help determine the scroll by checking the prices of unknown scrolls (it should be under 30 gold);
- The value of a scroll of identify with a level 3 commerce talent will be 20 gold;
- Scrolls of identify often generate more frequently than other scroll types . Or if unlucky, it could be scrolls of magic mapping;
- It may be best to wait until there is a place to stash a large amount of items (e.g. the sanctuary) for the slight chance that a blessed scroll of identify will identify all items at once.
