The water elemental can be found mid to late in the dungeon and has a very powerful drowning attack which can cause considerable damage. These elementals have frequently been the cause of certain death for the unlucky player when interacting with fountains.

Water elementals have been observed to have the following abilities or behaviours:
- Alignment: Neutral;
- Magic: Can breath magically;
- Resistance: Fire;
- Resistance: Confusion;
- Resistance: Poison;
- Resistance: Some magic;
- Resistance: Sleep;
- Weakness: Cold;
- Weakness: Fire.
Instant Kill[]
The following methods will instantly kill a water elemental, primarily due to its weakness to cold and fire:
- Casting a cone of cold spell;
- Casting a fireball spell;
- Throwing a scroll of fire.
- Using or throwing a wand of cancellation;
- Using or throwing a wand of cone of cold;
- Using or throwing a wand of fire;
- Using or throwing a wand of death.
Tips[]
- Wearing an amulet of magical breathing will negate the damage from the drowning attack;
- An injured water elemental will gradually heal if it is under or passes through a gargoyle fountain.
